Position Summary: Assistant Director of Admissions supports Miami Law’s nationwide student recruitment efforts and enrollment goals through the development and implementation of integrated marketing and recruitment strategies. This position requires regional and national travel, proficiency in Customer Relationship Management software, excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, ability to use sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy in a professional setting, and the ability to use data to support the planning of outreach activities and events. Reporting Relationship: Reports to Director of Student Recruitment Core Job Functions: Develops and implements recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective students and meet the enrollment needs of the University. Establishes and maintains relationships with students, parents, high school counselors, teachers, and administrators. Provides pre-admission advice and counsel relative to the recruitment and admissions processes. Seeks out opportunities to engage and meet prospective students by participating in local, state, and national school events, college fairs, and community organizations. Addresses questions and responds to inquiries from prospective students through various mediums. Hosts and assists in the establishment and coordination of on-campus programs for prospective students. Represents the University during on-campus events to provide information about available offerings, including but not limited to, academic programs, resources, opportunities, and facilities. Evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and makes recommendations for program changes and enhancements. Compiles, assesses, and interprets student data, event outcomes, recruitment trends, and market area trends, and reports findings to senior leadership. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Department Specific Functions: Assists in the preliminary review process of applications for all LAW programs. Develops and implements recruitment and yield strategies to attract prospective students and meet the enrollment needs of the University. Represents Miami Law at regional and national events and to a wide range of constituents and venues. Addresses questions and responds to inquiries from prospective students and applicants through various mediums. Seeks out opportunities to engage and meet prospective students and pre-law advisors by participating in local, state, and national school events, law fairs, and community organizations. Supports Miami Law’s admissions and scholarship interview program. Assists with diversity recruitment initiatives including coordinating outreach to minority-serving colleges and universities. Evaluates the effectiveness of recruitment strategies and makes recommendations for program changes and enhancements. Compiles, assesses, and interprets student data, event outcomes, recruitment trends, and market area trends, and reports findings as needed. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets. Provides individual counseling to prospective students and applicants regarding all aspects of the law school application process. Assists in the development, enhancement, advertising, and execution of on-campus visits and events, off-campus events, and virtual programming for prospective students. Serves as a contact for undergraduate student organizations and continuously develops new partnerships with undergraduate student organizations. Supports our transfer and visitor JD program recruitment efforts. Develops and regularly updates the recruiter manual which tracks information of all Miami Law programs, faculty developments, University-related news, and other information that is critical for the recruitment process. Monitors external websites and social media sites which might impact or influence recruitment efforts and provides regular updates. Assists with special projects and other duties as assigned by Director of Student Recruitment. This position doesn’t have any supervisory functions. This list of duties and responsibilities is not intended to be all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties or responsibilities as necessary. Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; JD or master’s degree preferred. Two (2) years of experience in admissions, student enrollment, or a related field. Experience in a similar academic setting or marketing experience preferred. Unite law school customer relationship management system expertise preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes: Ability and willingness to travel heavily during peak recruitment season and to incur travel expenses for reimbursement. Ability and willingness to work on evenings and weekends as needed. Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, tact, and diplomacy in highly confidential and professional setting. Ability to identify and use data to make decisions about recruiting initiatives. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in office characterized by high volume of applications, visitors, and emails. Ability to work effectively under deadlines and high expectations of productivity. Demonstrated skill in representing Miami Law to prospective students, prelaw advisors, and parents. Demonstrated success in event planning and programming. Excellent computer skills and comfort level with technology and software. Excellent oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Exceptional dedication to customer service. Exercise of sound judgment in evaluating applications for admission. Knowledge of best practices in law school admissions. Knowledge of business and management principles. Strong attention to detail, leadership skills, and team-building skills. Strong proficiency with Unite or ACES2 preferred. Must be willing to learn new software as required. Strong work ethic and interest in improving performance. Skilled in confidently delivering presentations both virtually and in person. Ability to foster connections and build rapport with diverse audiences, inspiring interest, and excitement about the law school. Ability to confidently address questions and concerns from prospective students and families during recruitment events and information sessions.
