Pro Bono Is for Everyone CLE & Presentation of Catherine Chapman Pro Bono Service Award

TWL is proud to present “Pro Bono Is for Everyone: How Attorneys Can Find a Pro Bono Project That Fits Their Schedule and Skillset.” Many attorneys are interested in participating in pro bono legal representation, but are concerned about the time commitment or a lack of expertise. TWL has put together a panel of pro bono experts who will address these issues and discuss the various ways attorneys can participate in pro bono activities. The webinar is dedicated to former TWL President Catherine Chapman (1973-2019) and will conclude with the presentation of the Catherine Chapman Pro Bono Service Award to recognize a member of the Florida Bar Association who embodies the enduring commitment Ms. Chapman devoted to pro bono legal services and community involvement during her lifetime.

TWL is pleased to welcome the following panelists:  

Carrie Litherland is the Executive Director of the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee. Legal Aid works to ensure low-income families and residents have access to quality legal services they wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.

Colleen Mullen is the Director of Pro Bono & Volunteer Engagement for Legal Services of North Florida. Legal Services of North is one of seven legal services organizations in Florida funded primarily by the Legal Services Corporation (LSC). LSC is a private, not-for-profit corporation created by an Act of Congress to ensure low-income people have equal access to the courts nationwide.

Judge Suzanne Van Wyk, an administrative law judge with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings, is the first vice president of the Florida Bar Foundation. The Foundation is a statewide charitable organization whose mission is to provide greater access to justice. Judge Van Wyk is also a founding member of the Tallahassee Legal Aid Foundation and a Legal Services of North Florida Partner in Service.
